With the development of new technologies in recent years, bloggers, influencers and “ insta models ” have emerged and become popular. Nonetheless, the most recent and most followed stars on social media are the new fit moms. What does this trend consist of?

Who are the fit moms?

Fit moms have become a very popular fashion today. These are the new “celebrities” on Instagram. These are expectant mothers who have status because they are dedicated to getting plenty of exercise during their pregnancy.

Physically, these women sport lean and almost perfect bodies. They publish messages through social networks which receive millions of followers and likes for each post. They arouse admiration, but also many criticisms from the public.

In fact, it’s easy to spot these expectant mothers on social media. Fit moms do have specific characteristics that strike everyone. Many people wonder why these women are so famous.

Here’s another special feature:  Fit moms constantly post photos of their bodies during pregnancy, including when they exercise.

Posting everyday life photos on Instagram has become so viral that even future fitness moms have embraced the practice. This is a trend that receives millions of likes  with every post, although it also generates controversy. In this sense, the fit less trend can arouse sympathy on one part of the public, but also adversity on the other.

Pregnant women who do not give up fitness: a risky activity?

Traditionally,  pregnant women are recommended to rest during pregnancy and not to exert too much effort. However, nowadays more and more women do not want to give up their athletic and slim bodies. They therefore continue their fitness training during the gestational months.

These are the famous fit moms, so popular on social networks. Among the best known, we find Chontel Duncan, personal trainer Emily Ross or models like Sophie Guidolin or Sarah Stage.

All of these fitness women are known to have documented their pregnancies through Instagram. They actually released their workouts and slim bodies during pregnancy. An image that many other pregnant women envy.

From a medical point of view, exercising during pregnancy is very healthy, provided the workouts are moderate. In other words,  no weight lifting or running .

Advantages and disadvantages of this trend

It is advisable to exercise during pregnancy, but always in moderation. Of course, these habits and the frequency of exercise will vary during the first, second, and third trimester. It is indeed essential to control and adapt the activity to the different stages of gestation.

The benefits of these exercises for pregnant women are clear: 

  • Improved blood pressure.
  • Decreased risk of urinary incontinence.
  • They promote childbirth.
  • Weight control.
  • Decrease in digestive disorders.
  • Other.

It is said that childbirth is less of a problem when a woman has exercised during her pregnancy.

As for the disadvantages, they have also been highlighted by experts:

  • Higher risk of miscarriage  if physical activity is intense during the first trimester.
  • Hypoglycemia,  in the case of diabetic women. The cause is physical exercise.
  • Possible damage to the fetus. If the mom-to-be did not exercise before the pregnancy, it is not a good idea to start then. In all cases, it is possible to opt for sports or gentle activities, such as yoga.
  • Fractures and sprains. We must not forget the fragility of the joints of pregnant women.

These are the new stars of social networks, the fit moms, who  gather thousands of followers and generate significant admiration in many people. For others, it is quite the opposite. It is a subject that is undoubtedly a subject of debate. Fit moms, is this a healthy trend?
