Hygiene, like a good diet, are the factors that have the most impact on the well-being of the baby. Thus, parents are always ready to listen to advice to facilitate these sometimes demanding tasks such as a safe bath.

Admittedly, the pediatrician often provides a long list relating to the hygiene of the baby and the utensils to use. However, at the time of practice, one can feel somewhat disconcerted by the fragility of the child during its first months. Fear is also normal when in the tub and already agile and restless.

This is why we wanted to simplify somewhat this important task of hygiene with a list with the material of regular use, safe and simple.

  1. Baby bath

It is the most recommended tool  among your equipment for bath time for newborns and up to their six or eight months. It is placed in the normal bathtub or above the changing table. The baby is placed in a comfortable position that allows him to wash his body in complete safety without running the risk of drowning or bumping into himself while slipping.

The most important thing when choosing your baby’s bathtub is to make sure that its structure is stable and that it is made with hygienic materials such as polypropylene. Also make sure that it has a non-slip backrest and that its edges are round.

  2. The bath seat

The bath seat is a tool similar to the baby bath. However, it is recommended for babies over eight months old. It can also be placed in the adult bathtub, but having openings for the legs gives the infant more freedom than the plastic bathtub. Indeed, at this age, he is no longer so fragile.

  3. The bath mat

The bath mat is placed in the tub to prevent the child from slipping. It can also be placed under the bath seat to increase its stability. If you don’t have one, you can replace it with a towel.

  4. Pitchers for rinsing

They prove to be very useful for ensuring the hygiene of the child, especially for removing soap or shampoo remains from areas such as his head and face. Choose them with a non-slip handle to avoid any accident when pouring the water. For this same reason, do not choose glass ones.

  5. Towels for drying

It is essential to reserve a towel for your baby’s hygiene. This must be made of hypoallergenic fabric. It should be washed at least every two uses with special baby soap.

General recommendations

Don’t forget the tips for washing baby’s clothes. It is thus necessary to use detergent for children, to avoid softeners and to wash delicately all the parts. This ensures that he will not suffer from any skin problems due to contact with the chemicals in the detergents.

As we mentioned before,  newborn hygiene  should not include soap in their first few days. It is recommended to use only water. If you still use products for cleansing the skin, it should be in small quantities.

In addition, it is recommended not to bathe the baby more than twice a week. It is necessary to limit the duration of the bath to a short time with particular attention to the umbilical cord. Also be sure to dry the skin well.
