The Importance Of Family Routines – Being Parents

The importance of family routines

Members of an organized family, in general, work with the synchronicity of a good team. Their philosophy is to always try to help each other.

Certainly,  the word routine is used to emphasize the positive and negative aspects of the behavior.  For example, a daily exercise routine can keep you healthy. On the other hand, a routine relationship with your partner can lead your marriage to divorce.

The line between “the good” and “the bad” when it comes to certain aspects of life is very fine. The same goes for family routines. That is why  it is always necessary to watch out for both excess, laxity and stiffness.

Family routines are necessary

It is very important to establish healthy family routines. Indeed, they  help to achieve positive results in the education of your children. They will also help them learn healthy habits from an early age.

In addition, it is necessary that each couple take care of their home and seek their children to develop in a coherent way. Establish daily routines that invite  all members to work towards the same goal.

Teaching them about equality when children are young is an investment in their future

The idea is not to overload a family member with household chores. It is preferable that the tasks and responsibilities are distributed equally according to the abilities and skills of each.

It is essential that routines are followed every day – or most of them. For this to happen, parents must have strength of character. Because it  is very easy to give way to procrastination.

The secret is always in the balance

The biggest challenge will be establishing routines that maintain a good balance between the mess that occurs when you don’t have a routine and the schematic rigidity that usually appears when a lot of rules are imposed.

Disorder and intermittency are the main obstacles  in a family struggling to maintain a healthy family routine. If the intention is for everyone at home to walk in the same direction, then priority should be given to consistent habits for everyone.

It is also essential to know when it is necessary to make the schedule flexible or the accomplishment of routines. There are days when you humanely cannot respect them. So making small changes will help the family work with less stress.

Some strategies

Organize the tasks and schedules of family members. But above all, make sure they are respected. To do this, you can organize a family reunion. You can show a diagram of the daily tasks that correspond to each one. This program can have a schedule adjusted to the availability of each family member. Doing this helps to organize the home as a whole.

Helping with household chores is a mission for all members.

Choose a visible place in the house to place this diagram.  Or, buy a small board to draw and record each member’s different tasks.

Children’s development improves with family routines

  • A simple way to help your child in his development is to  warn him in advance of the tasks that correspond to him every  day.
  • If you see that at first he doesn’t do his homework very well, give him a hand with some of it.  Also, take some time at night to help her organize her clothes and other things for the next day.
  • In the morning,  help him stay cheerful and positive.  If you see him a little discouraged or sleepy, help him get ready and cook him a nice, nutritious breakfast.

Always remember that the main goal of family routines is to maintain order and maximize each member’s time availability. Keeping this in mind helps to create a balance between home and outside duties.
